As an experienced psychotherapist and helping professional whose worked in healthcare for over 15 years, I have seen how caring for others while neglecting your own needs can lead to pure psychological and physical exhaustion to the point that you become incapable of helping anyone, let alone yourself.
I’m not an exception. I didn’t take care of myself at first and sacrificed my time, energy, and resources to help others – and realized it wasn’t helpful for anyone in the long run.
